The Proud House is the home of The Proud Family located at 4134 Kelly Road in Emilyville, California.
History[]
The home has historical significance as it was one of the first in the city to be built in the 20th Century and the first in the area to be owned and occupied by an African American. A man by the name of Garrett Krebs owned the home for nearly 50 years until 1972 when his home was repossessed. In 1966, Krebs made a brutal financial mistake by having the house thoroughly renovated inside and out and adding a swimming pool the following summer. After Krebs died, a man by the name of Alvin Peterson purchased the home and later remodeled again before selling it to Oscar Jackson Proud in 1992 for a whopping $500 despite the home being in excellent condition. Peterson was desperate to leave because the house became haunted by Krebs' spirit who was furious about his most prized possession being snatched from him.
Penny Proud was just four years old when the family moved in and Suga Mama lived there briefly in the 1990s before moving into her own apartment near downtown with her dog Puff.
On paper, Oscar technically owns the house since he negotiated the purchase. However, Trudy is the breadwinner and pays most of the bills while Oscar focuses on running his business Proud Snax.
It was formerly located at the address 1433 Kelly Road until the revial series when the city was rezoned following Wizard Kelly's ouster as part owner of the city's naming rights. Kelly is now trying to run for Mayor.
Layout[]
The house has three bedrooms and a bathroom on the top level; one belonging to Penny, one belonging to her parents and the other belonging to BeBe and CeCe. The babies' room was briefly occupied by Suga Mama before the twins were born. The home also has a large living room with a coat closet on the south end with a dining room/kitchen to the north when contains an island cooking range and oven which were installed in the 60's during renovation along with the two car garage. The back door also leads out from the kitchen area as well as a door leading to the garage. The home also has a basement which is seldom seen in the series as the family almost never goes down there. The back yard contains a large swimming pool also added in the 60's which ironically is something LaCienega's family doesn't even have despite them being wealthier and in a much larger home across the street.
Trivia[]
- With the 2010s demolition and reconstruction of The Boulevardez House, 4134 Kelly Rd is now the oldest house on the block.
